About Our Office

Atlas Pediatric Dental Care is geared toward children and their needs. We use instruments and equipment made specifically for children of various sizes and ages, including infants. In addition, our friendly team is reassuring for even the most nervous patients and their parents, making a visit to the dentist a positive experience.

Building Lasting Friendships

One of Dr. Matt’s favorite aspects of pediatric dentistry is interacting with his patients. He loves taking time to visit with them and get to know their interests, many of which he shares. Since he is a big fan of superheroes, Star Wars, Disney (yes, the princesses, too!), Legos, Pokémon, music, kids’ movies, and many other topics, he always finds something in common with his patients and can put them at ease. Plus, he usually wears fun character scrub tops, which has brought a smile to more than one anxious child. He is a big kid at heart and a geek in many ways.

Putting Your Child at Ease

Dr. Matt is passionate about helping children overcome their fear of the dental setting. He especially loves being able to tailor each child’s experience in the dental chair to his or her specific needs. Although he prefers not to use sedatives unless necessary, he recognizes that some children require additional methods to alleviate their fear or anxiety. He has had significant training in the use of nitrous oxide (‘laughing gas’), oral conscious sedation and IV sedation, and will use the appropriate method when a child’s needs require it. Dr. Matt will always ensure that his patients are treated in a safe, comfortable manner. He is certified in both Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and his staff is trained in CPR.

Wheelchair Accessible

Atlas Pediatric Dental Care happily complies with the American Disabilities Act. Our office is wheelchair accessible. Each treatment room is large enough to accommodate wheelchairs and allow treatment of patients in wheelchairs.

A Fun Theme

Our office is themed around maps, travel and world locations, making each visit an exciting adventure. In our waiting room, we have a TV, iPads, toys and books for our patients to enjoy while they wait for their appointments. Each quiet room will soon be themed with a different continent (Asia, Europe and Africa) and is equipped with a TV that patients can view during treatment.

Each child’s experience at Atlas Pediatric Dental Care is catered to his or her specific needs

We do our best to see patients at their scheduled appointment times and ask that you assist us by arriving about 10 minutes early. This allows you time to fill out any remaining paperwork so that your child can be seen as scheduled. Arriving late affects not only your child but the rest of the patients who have appointments that day. Because of this, we may ask you to reschedule if you arrive more than 10 minutes late.

Scheduling Your Appointment

Because younger children and patients undergoing dental treatment tend to have better visits earlier in the day, we typically schedule those appointments for the morning. Certain forms of sedatives require an empty stomach, making morning appointments ideal for children who cannot eat until after their visit. Exams can be scheduled any time of day. Your child does not need a scheduled appointment for an emergency, but it would be helpful if you call to let us know you are coming.

Accompanying Your Child

For the initial appointment, we invite you to accompany your child so that we may get to know one another and answer any questions you may have. During future appointments, we encourage you to allow your child to go through the dental experience alone with our staff. This gives your child the opportunity to develop confidence in his or her abilities, as well as establish a comfortable and trusting relationship with our staff. If you do choose to remain with your child during appointments, please take a seat in the room and allow the dentist and assistants to communicate and work with your child.

If You Need to Cancel Your Appointment

If you are unable to make your scheduled appointment, please give us at least 48-hours’ notice. This makes it possible for us to see other patients who need our care. We appreciate your help in making our office run smoothly for all our patients.

Legal Requirements

A parent or legal guardian must be present at Atlas Pediatric Dental Care during appointments. Please note that the only children allowed in the room during appointments are the ones who are scheduled to be seen at that time.

We want to provide your child with the best dental care possible and will do our best to arrange for treatment that fits your schedule and finances. Payment is due at the time of treatment. We accept cash, credit cards, debit cards, and Apple Pay. We now accept Care Credit.

Please provide our office with the information for your dental insurance prior to your first visit. If we have the information, we will be happy to assist you in filing your claim. If your insurance undergoes any changes, please notify us as soon as possible.

Your Benefits

We will give you our best estimate of what your dental insurance will cover, but please be aware that the actual benefits are determined by your insurance provider and may differ from what we expect. You should be familiar with what your plan covers since you will be responsible for what your insurance does not pay.

Further Information

Your insurance provider determines your benefits and sets the fees they are willing to pay for each dental procedure. By accepting your insurance, our office agrees to abide by the fees that your insurance provider has set. These fees are often set up so that insurance companies can make a 20-30% percent net profit and are frequently based on outdated information. Instead of saying they are underpaying or that you have low benefits, insurance companies might imply that your dentist is overcharging you for a procedure.

Coverage Information

Insurance is meant to assist patients in receiving dental care; however, no insurance pays 100 percent of the cost of procedures or covers every procedure. Coverage is usually determined by the type of contract your employer has with the insurance company or how much you or your employer pays for your plan.

We Work With You

We are happy to answer any questions you may have and help you find the best payment option that will fit your financial circumstances.
